Monday, July 27, 2009 (21:28:51) Tags: business news, SEZ, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia New Delhi: Despite India's overall exports growth dipping considerably, exports from its special economic zones (SEZs) grew 50 percent during 2008-09, the government said today. "The value of exports made from SEZs during 2008-09 was Rs.99,689 crore against Rs.66,638 crore in the previous year, an increase over 50 percent," said Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in the Lok Sabha today. During 2008-09, India's total exports registered a growth of 3.5 percent as compared to 29.1 percent during the previous year. The slow growth of exports was primarily due to the global slowdown from the second half last fiscal, the minister said. (IANS)
