KATHMANDU: The new Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of Embassy of India in Kathmandu Dr. Rakesh Pandey has suggested to increase the formal and informal engagements with stakeholders for greater flow of information between India and Nepal.

Interacting with Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) during a Roundtable meeting here in Kathmandu today, Dr Pandey also suggested sector wise, if possible, monthly, meetings for enabling environment for more investment.

Dr Pandey also suggested NICCI to increase engagements with partner associations in Nepal, and commence studies on strength and requirements of both the countries. “NICCI should do study on complementarities and present to the leaderships of both the countries to take the further steps,” he said, adding that connectivity – both physical and digital – will help more enabling environment. “Let’s build on traditional strengths and let’s also work for new areas.”

 During the interaction, first secretary (Commerce) at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu Suman Shekhar also spoke about the bilateral engagements.

Likewise, NICCI president Sunil KC welcoming Dr Pandey, highlighted about the Indian investments in Nepal and benefit Nepal can get from Indian economic rise. “India is fast growing economy and Nepal can take advantage from the neighbour’s rise,” he added.

On the occasion, highlighting the historical engagement of NICCI and Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, NICCI vice president Ravi Rayavaram, said that around 35 percent of the total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stock come from India.

During the Round Table, the NICCI members highlighted trade and transit issue, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) issue, and most importantly the gap in the FDI from India lately – especially of private sector – though the government-to-government investment in hydropower is happening, and plethora of issues related to the Nepal, India trade and economic relations.

काठमाडौँ । भारतको काठमाडौँस्थित दूतावासका नयाँ उपप्रमुख (डिसीएम) डा राकेश पाण्डेले आर्थिक प्रगतकिो लागि भारत र नेपालबीच औपचारिक तथा अनौपचारिक रूपमा सम्पर्क तथा संलग्नता बढाउन सुझाव दिएका छन्।

आज काठमाडौँमा नेपाल भारत उद्योग वाणिज्य संघ (निक्की) द्धारा आयोजित राउण्ड टेबलमा अन्तरक्रिया गर्दै डा पाण्डेले लगानीको वातावरण अझ सहज बनाउन क्षेत्रगत रूपमा, सकेसम्म मासिक रूपमा, बैठकहरू आयोजना गर्न पनि सुझाव दिए।

डा पाण्डेले निक्कीलाई भारतका निजी क्षेत्रका संघ संस्थाहरूसँग सहकार्य बढाउन तथा दुवै देशका क्षमताहरू र आवश्यकताहरूको अध्ययन थाल्न पनि आग्रह गरे। ूउनले दुवै देशबीचको परिपूरकतालाई अध्ययन गरी दुबै देशका नेतृत्वसमक्ष प्रस्तुत गर्न आवश्यक रहेको पनि बताए। भौतिक तथा डिजिटल दुबै प्रकारका सम्पर्क विस्तारले लगानीका लागि पनि अनुकूल वातावरण बनाउन सहयोग पुर्‍याउने उल्लेख गर्दै उनले परम्परागत क्षेत्रबाहेक नयाँ क्षेत्रमा पनि सहकार्य गर्न पनि सुझाव दिए।

अन्तरक्रियामा भारतीय दूतावासका प्रथम सचिव (वाणिज्य) सुमन शेखरले पनि द्विपक्षीय सम्बन्धबारे बोले।

त्यसैगरी, निक्की अध्यक्ष सुनील केसीले डा पाण्डेको स्वागत गर्दै नेपालमा भारतीय लगानीको चर्चा गरे र भारतको आर्थिक विकासबाट नेपालले लाभ लिनसक्ने बताए। ूभारत तीव्र गतिमा आर्थिक रूपमा बढिरहेको छ र नेपालले छिमेकीको विकासबाट फाइदा उठाउन सक्छ,ू उनले भने।

त्यस अवसरमा, निक्की र भारतीय दूतावासबीचको ऐतिहासिक सम्बन्धलाई उल्लेख गर्दै निक्कीका उपाध्यक्ष रवि रायवरमले नेपालमा आएका कुल प्रत्यक्ष वैदेशिक लगानी भारतको हिस्सा झण्डै ३५ प्रतिशत रहको जानकारी गराए।

बैठकमा निक्कीका सदस्यहरूले व्यापार तथा पारवहन (ट्रान्जिट) समस्या, बौद्धिक सम्पत्ति अधिकार सम्बन्धी समस्या, र हालसालै भारतीय निजी क्षेत्रको प्रत्यक्ष वैदेशिक लगानीमा आएको कमीबारे चर्चा गरे। यद्यपि जलविद्युत क्षेत्रमा सरकार(सरकारबीच लगानी जारी रहेको भएपनि पछिल्ला वर्षहरुमा भारतीय निजी क्षेत्रको लगानीमा कमी आएको लगायत नेपाल भारत व्यापार तथा आर्थिक सम्बन्धसम्बन्धी विविध मुद्दाहरूमा चर्चा भएको थियो।
